Postural assessment
Before recommending any wheelchair or seating option, the OT completes a postural assessment and takes measurements to understand how your body needs to be supported. This considers comfort, postural support, pressure care and functional movement.
Seating systems
Wheelchair prescription involves an integrated seating system - not simply selecting a chair. Each component works together to support posture, pressure care, comfort, function and mobility.

A Wheelchair Assessment determines the most suitable wheelchair and seating setup to support a person's mobility, comfort, and daily function. It includes a Postural Assessment to ensure the wheelchair properly supports the person's body, promotes good posture, and reduces the risk of pressure injuries or secondary complications.
